Attack Triangle History
The ATTACK TRIANGLE started as an idea in 1994 while Rene Cranston, our CEO, was coaching a
AAA Hockey Team. During the early part of the season he realized during
drills, that most of the players didn't understand the very basic idea of "attacking the triangle" - the shape formed by touchpoints to the ice of the opponent's skates and stick.
Since
94 Rene has gone on to coach at a variety
of levels working with players,
coaches and professional instructors
all over the world. With the
release of the Triangle in 2000 TTP
Sports has been fortunate to work with
Teams from the NHL and national
programs from Russia to Canada.
As the Triangle continues its run
towards becoming the standard training
obstacle its goal remains to replace
the road cone in all practice
settings.
Rene
Cranston
Born in MN Rene playing experience
includes semi professional play in
North America and Europe. After
a brief time in the "real
world" Rene returned to hockey
where he has been gainfully employed
since 1994. In 1996 he lead Seattle
Junior Tier 1 team to the Pacific
division title and its first of two
USA Hockey National Championship
appearances. More recently Rene has
been directing the Milwaukee Winter
Club Tier 2 program as its Arena and
player Development Director. In
this position he has been instrumental
in returning Winter Club to Division 1
status after slipping down to division
2 status for roughly 5 years.
Currently Winter Club is the smallest
Division 1 program in Wisconsin. In
2007 Rene lead Winter Club's Pee Wee A
team to the Central Division
Championship, Winter Clubs first ever
appearance, and finished a respectable
3rd losing to the eventual National
Champions.
In addition to his development of
the Winter Club Rene has been
instrumental in helping Wisconsin Amateur
Hockey Association with its
supervision of USA Hockey coaching
clinics, starting up the WAHA Cup for
Pee Wee's and leading the charge for
the development of the Wisconsin High
School Elite League (WHSEL).
Through these initiatives players who
have the desire to get better have
been given an opportunity to improve
under the guidance of professional
coaching and against quality
competition. In its first season WHSEL
had a team win the Tier 2 Wisconsin
title which went on to represent
Wisconsin at the Central Division
Championship. In its second year
of operation WHSEL clearly is
developing a reputation for high
quality teams with low cost and travel
making it very appealing to the best
High School players in Wisconsin.
